Before joining Bournemouth University in 2010, worked at Teesside University (2008-2010), and as a visiting lecturer at the University of the West of England, Bristol (2005-2007).

I have a PhD in Journalism Studies from Bournemouth University, funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council. My thesis analysed civic engagement and citizen voices on the BBC News website during the 2005 UK General Election.

Prior to my PhD I worked in various roles in the IT industry, including as a Cisco Business Planning Analyst, Product Manager, Technical Field Sales Consultant, and Web Developer and Project Manager.

For now, this blog is predominantly for sharing links relevant to my work with a widget showing my Tweets. Expect to see links on developments in news and journalism – in particular relating to new media and online journalism. Other topics of personal interest may get a mention from time to time too, but my twitter feed is the most up-to-date non-link pondering.

Posts to this blog are predominantly about highlighting content elsewhere on the internet. I might start writing commentary pieces too, but if and when, they will be clearly highlighted as such (think John Gruber over at DaringFireball).

The photograph along the top is from Annapurna Sanctuary, Nepal, taken on our honeymoon – fantastic place.

Note that the blog is also a testbed for my technological experimentation – so the design may change and bits may appear or disappear without prior notice.
